LUNGSOD QUEZON, Kalakhang Maynila — Sa pagtalima sa adhikain ng Administrasyong Marcos na paunlarin ang pamumuhay ng mga Pilipino, partikular na ang mga sektor ng mahihirap, nakatakdang ipatupad ni Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) chairperson Undersecretary Elpidio Jordan Jr. ang apat na banner program ng PCUP na susuporta sa national poverty alleviation initiative ni Pangulong Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
Sa opisyal na pahayag, binalangkas ng PCUP chief-executive-officer ang nasabing apat na programa na kinabibilangan ng housing facilitation and linking initiative na tinaguriang ‘Piso Ko, Bahay Mo’, resource mobilization o Lingkod Agapay Maralita (LAM) program, urban poor data generation sa pamamagitan ng mga Satellite Offices at collaboration and partnership sa ilalim ng Goodwill Ambassadors Program (GAP).
Nilinaw ni Usec. Jordan na ang ‘Piso Ko, Bahay Mo’ para sa mga urban poor family (UPF) na walang tahanan, partikular na yaong apektado ng mga court-ordered demolition at eviction, ay magpapalawig sa partisipasyon ng pribadong sektor sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng mga lote na kung saan makakapag patayo ng mga pabahay para sa mga UPF.
“The program recognizes the increasing role that businesses have been playing in local development by going beyond mere corporate social responsibility.
In addition, there is also a growing realization that doing business with social impact is possible which is blurring the gap between conventional territories of development players and businesses,” kanyang pinunto.
Sa kabilang dako, layunin naman ng Lingkod Agapay Maralita, o LAM program, na matugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga UPF sa pamamagitan ng pagpapaigting ng savings mobilization, na isasagawa sa pakikipag tambalan sa pribadong sektor.
“LAM aims to build up opportunities for livelihood and employment as well as housing and other concerns of selected communities across the country. The program will serve as the light, so to speak, in building bridges of collaboration,” ani Usec. Jordan.
Ayon naman sa urban poor data generation, isusulong ng PCUP ang partnership sa mga local government unit (LGU) upang makapagtatag ng mga satellite offices sa mga lungsod at munisipalidad sa NCR, Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao.
“This targets a means of strengthening the PCUP’s intervention in urban poor communities through the establishment of a database that would be useful both for the Commission and the various KLGUs in developing plans, programs and projects and formulating policies for advocacy in both the local and national levels that would be beneficial to the urban poor,” wika ng chairperson ng PCUP.
Sa huli, itataguyod naman ng collaboration and partnership ang panawagan para sa pagkakaroon ng mga goodwill ambassador na mula sa business sector, academe, mga non-government organization (NGO) at iba pa, na siyang magsusulong ng PCUP at mga programa nito para sa mga maralitang tagalungsod.
“With our ambassadors sharing our vision of empowering urban poor communities, they will help generate the support the Commission needs and likewise look for other partners who may provide assistance and services aimed at filling the gaps in alleviating the plight of UPFs from poverty and ensure that they will become economically productive as partners in nation building,” pagtatapos ni Usec.
